The strength we find within

After the expansive outwardness of summer, September brings a natural turning inward. It is a time to pause, take stock, and consider how we want to meet the final chapter of the year.
Here in the United States, the month begins with Labor Day, observed this year on September 7, a time to recognize the contributions and achievements of our fellow workers. Beyond the long weekend and the unofficial close of summer, there is meaning in recognizing the people whose daily work sustains us, our families, our communities, and our wider society.
September also marks a turning point, particularly for families. Back to school brings new routines, early mornings, fuller calendars, changes in sleep and mealtimes, and a whole new landscape of daily interaction for children, parents, and teachers. It is a natural time to return to the foundations that support well-being: nourishing food, adequate sleep, movement, time outdoors, regular routines, rhythm, and thoughtful attention to the environments in which we live and learn.
For families looking to make nutritional support part of that rhythm, our Immune Support collection brings together some of our foundational formulas to support the return to everyday routines.
Seasonal awareness matters because resilience is not about forcing the body to be stronger. It is about creating supportive conditions in which the body’s innate processes can function well as we move through the changing demands of the seasons. September offers a particularly beautiful reminder that health is also about rhythm, adaptation, and our relationship with the world around us.
It is perhaps at this point in the year that the wisdom of Michaelmas becomes especially meaningful. In Germany, Michaelmas is traditionally observed on September 29, close to the autumn equinox, as a time associated with courage, inner strength, and conscious development. As the natural world begins to draw its forces inward, we too are invited to turn inward, not in retreat, but in preparation.
The image of St. Michael meeting the dragon has always felt particularly relevant at this time of year. The dragon need not be understood as something external or something to conquer. Perhaps it represents those forces within us that can pull us away from awareness, courage, or conscious choice. Michaelmas then becomes less about overcoming something and more about developing the inner strength to meet what is before us with greater consciousness.
And so, as September gathers momentum, perhaps the question this month is a simple one:
As the outer light begins to diminish, how might we strengthen the light within?
It is a question we will carry with us into the final months of this year, with gratitude for the communities we share and serve, and for the continuing inquiry into what it means to create health, resilience, and a life lived with greater consciousness.
With strength within and resilience for the months ahead.
